Burlington BG’s take Gold in Provincial competition held in Ottawa

This past weekend saw many of our Burlington Boys Artistic Gymnasts, travel to Ottawa to represent Burlington in the 3rd Ontario Provincial Artistic Gymnastics Qualifier. These qualifiers, 3 in total, help decide which boys will represent Burlington at the 2010 Ontario Gymnastics Championships held here in Burlington the BG’s Gym on Maple Ave, April 30th through May 2nd. These gymnasts compete in all 6 events which include routines on the Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and High Bar. Performing these events require a high level of focus, discipline, strength, self awareness and determination. All of which our boys demonstrated extremely well. Placements were as follows.

Provincial Level 1 ages Under 10: Tony Partito came 6th all around while bringing home a 1st place Gold Medal for both Floor and Vault routines. As well, Tony received a 4th place ribbon for Rings and Parallel Bar routines. Travis Irvine placed 5th with his Vault routine and Romano Watt brought home a 3rd place Bronze medal on Rings and a 4th place for both Floor and Parallel Bars. Malcolm Glassco and Jameel Ali also represented Burlington very well at this competition among the 46 competitors in their age group.

Provincial Level 1 ages 10-12: Colin Kew brought home a 4th place ribbon for his Vault routine which was just 0.2 points away from gold.

Provincial Level 2 ages 10-12: Thomas Bowles received a 6th place ribbon for his all around performance along with 4th place ribbon on High Bar and 5th in Pommel, Rings and Vault. Zachary Jeffrey Morrison also brought home a Silver Medal for his 2nd place performance on Vault along with 5th place ribbons in both Pommel and Rings for an all around 9th place among 22 other athletes.

Provincial Level 2 ages 13+: Ryan Romanoski received a 5th place ribbon for his all around performance along with Silver and Bronze medal in Floor and Vault respectively. Ryan also placed 4th with his High Bar routine.

Provincial Level 3 ages 10-12: Jacob Bonnay-Platt placed 1st all around among 18 other competitors while bringing home 1st place Gold in Floor, Rings and Vault and 3rd place Bronze Medal in Parallel Bars and High Bar. Jacob also placed 4th with his Pommel routine.

Provincial Level 3 ages 13+: Alexander Lang pulled off a 3rd place Bronze Medal on Parallel Bars along with a 4th and 5th place ribbon in Pommel and Rings respectively. Placing 6th all around is a great accomplishment with 13 other competitors.

National Youth ages 13-15: Wolfe Gazer brought home two 1st place Gold Medals for his Floor and Vault routines as well as a 4th place ribbon for his High Bar routine.

National Open ages 16 and up: Matthew Mascola placed 3rd all around with a Bronze Medal as well as demonstrating 1st place Gold Medals in both Vault and High Bar and 3rd on Rings with a 5th place on Parallel Bars and Floor.

Artistic Gymnastics, like other forms of gymnastics performed at the BG’s club demonstrate what our youth are able to achieve with determination and much effort. The BG’s hope you can come out to the upcoming Provincial meet to see for yourself the outstanding athleticism these boys and other exhibit.
